The Exit Row

The works of D. Roy Brubaker—pieces that seem less like objects and more like questions—will be on display at the offices of 180 Degrees Design + Build, where they’ll inhabit the space with a kind of quiet, buzzing presence, simultaneously asking to be purchased and interrogated.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Arizona Architecture Foundation, a cause that seems less about architecture as structure and more about architecture as possibility.

Expect an evening of drinks (the social lubricant of choice), music (background or foreground depending on your mood), and the chance to experience art not as a thing to be looked at but as a thing that looks back.

Naked Lunch Landscape Exhibition

Traversing the extended terrain of grief has felt like a lingering, unhealed wound, resistant to closure. As the passage of time unfolded, a gradual shift began to emerge within me, notably in the transformative month of December. Entrusted with a box labeled "D. Art Work," its contents revealed a poignant ensemble—used brushes, paint tubes, photographs of my grandfather, and his familiar long-sleeve shirt.

From these relics arose "Naked Lunch Landscape," a creation surpassing the boundaries of a conventional letter. It became an artistic tapestry, interweaving memory, emotion, and creativity. Each stroke of the metaphorical brush bore the imprint of those tangible items, transcending grief into a celebration of a well-lived life. Dedicated intimately to Charlie, my grandfather, the composition became a living testament to the intricate dance between loss and the transformative essence of art—a journey where grief found expression, resilience, and, ultimately, a voice of enduring legacy.
